Pollywog Green Phase Horned Frog

Hello and welcome to Pollywog.co.uk

Pollywog was established in the early 2000's in order to provide our fellow enthusiasts with a reliable source of high quality captive bred Amphibians along with the information and specialist accessories required to maintain them in a happy and healthy manner.

Over the years our operation has expanded greatly and today we run a dedicated Amphibian breeding and product development facility situated at the foot of the Malvern Hills where we endeavour to produce the finest captive bred livestock and the most innovative and reliable range of husbandry products available in today's market including specialist diets, automated misting systems, rain chambers, and natural terrarium decor / environmental enrichment.

Pollywog Red-eyed TreefrogOn this site you will find information and details of our products, services and some of our past, present & future captive breeding projects as well as a selection of Care Guides, Articles & Photo Galleries. We offer secure on-line ordering of our products and livestock utilising popular payment methods such as PayPal & Nochex and a fully licensed next-day courier service to deliver livestock direct to your door. Customers may alternatively collect orders by appointment from our offices here in Malvern, Worcestershire, England or at one of the numerous Breeders Meetings & Expo's we attend through out the year. Please note that due to bio-security measures we are unable to grant visitors access to our breeding facilities.

This site is still (yes I know it's taking a long time) under re-development following our web-host move so please check back regularly as we attempt to update things.

The first froglets from our experiments with Japanese Blue Horned Frogs will soon be made available; these are showing great diversity in their colouration and patternation ranging from light pastel shades of blue-green to deep metalic tones and look set to provide some very exciting projects in future generations. We also have some lovely Green Pacmans that are het for lemon & lime albino.

The photograph below shows a comparison between one of our Japanese Blue / Peppermint / Pastel froglets on the left & one of our Green Het Albino froglets on the right.

Latest News: Toads On Roads

Yes it's that time of the year again, in fact it's come along a little early, the Toads are on the move!

Every spring Common Toads (Bufo bufo) migrate back to their ancestral breeding ponds. This migration of so many toads en-masse leads to thousands of them falling victim to cars as they attempt to cross roads on their route. As a result of this annual massacre toad numbers are now in serious decline. Males are particularly susceptible as they try to take advantage of the lack of cover on roads to look out for migrating females. If you are driving on country roads at night for the next few weeks please keep your eyes open for migrating toads (they look like leaves in your headlights) and slow down.

Anybody interested in joining a Toads on Roads patrol in the Herefordshire & Worcestershire area please get in touch with us.
